Eric Saw - Founder, Visionary Director

Eric’s foray into business began in 1995, when he left his high-paying job as HR director of a multinational company to start his first business – children’s education and training centre Source Ed-Ventures. His main motivation was to be able to spend more time with his family, comprising wife Alice and three young children Daryl, Elizabeth and baby Veronica. A few years later in 1999, there was an opportunity for him to venture into F&B scene with the purchase of the Riverboat, and that move has largely shaped the course of his family’s lives till today! Eric handed over the reins of the Riverboat to his eldest son Daryl in 2015, and the entire Saw family is still very much involved in the business. Meanwhile, Eric, who is in his late 60’s and refusing to retire, is busy preparing for the launch of his first hotel project Doulos Phos, on board a 1914 ship that has been decommissioned an is now dry-berthed in Bintan.

Daryl Saw - CEO, Wine & Whisky Specialist

Daryl began helping out in the family business at the age of 12, being paid just $5.50 per hour to wait on tables after school and during the holidays. It was in these formative years that his passion for the F&B trade grew. Straight after leaving secondary school he began getting more and more involved in the family business whilst studying part-time with the International Theological Correspondence College. Following his father’s entrepreneurial footsteps, Daryl stepped out of the family business for a brief stint in 2012 to start a music school which he ran full-time for three years, before deciding to return to the Riverboat as CEO in 2015 to free his dad up to pursue his dream of opening a hotel. In addition to managing the Riverboat today, Daryl, who is also certified as a wine specialist, whisky ambassador, and professional trainer, still teaches music and conducts wine classes in his spare time.

Jayaprakash - General Manager

Prakash joined the company in 2010 as an Assistant Manager fresh out of hospitality school. His positive work attitude, coupled with his humble and hardworking nature, quickly won the hearts of the Saw family, who found in him a person they could entrust their business to in due course. Prakash, who hails from India, was promoted steadily through the years, and is now the ‘second-in-command’ of the company, working shoulder to shoulder with CEO Daryl in taking the company to its next level.
