Stewords Riverboat Singapore

This October, taste Germany’s most celebrated and world-famous grape varietal, the Riesling, in three distincive styles.

When it comes to precision engineering, the Germans are certainly at the top of the game. Such precision does somewhat carry over into their winemaking habits as well, with their quality wines being labeled according to their attributes or ‘Pradikats’. From Kabinett, to Spatlese, to Auslese, Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese, the labels actually enable us to make a very educated guess as to what style of wine we’ll be getting!

Muller-Catoir Haardt Riesling Kabinett Trocken 2014

Kabinett wines refer to wines from fuly-ripened grapes from the main harvest, usally in September. When all the sugar is fermented into alcohol, it becomes ‘trocken’ or dry.

$65++ (Usual $75++)

St Urbans-Hof Ockfener Bockstein Riesling Spatlese 2013

Spatlese wines are harvested later. The sugar content of the grapes increases, and the wine tends to be slightly sweet.

$75++ (Usual $88++)

Dr Loosen Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Beerenauslese 2006

Beerenauslese refers to late-harvested, hand-picked berries which are very high in sugar, making luscious sweet wine.

$69++ (Usual $79++)
